One of the Kyocera mottos is “Having a gratitude”. Mr. Inamori always tells this in his workshop.

“Without the harmony among the people in a company, we cannot make something that pleases our customers, because the product reflects the mindset of the person who makes it. However, the selfish mindset never works to create harmony. Selfish means insisting on one’s position such as” I am the number one, I am the leader, or I am the one who should be treated with respect… “. Those mindsets disturb creating harmony in a company. Instead, we should always keep this in our mind: we would not be able to achieve what we are today without the support of people around us, including our customers, business partners, colleagues at work, and family. Without their support, we would have never been able to achieve our goals. They have helped us to be what we are as of today. Don’t take this wrong; it’s not due to only our own efforts but the others’ help and support, to develop our businesses.  It’s important to remember this, always have gratitude to those around us, and work and contribute to the team in which we can trust each other.

I have been telling you how to polish your soul by conducting “Six Devotions”, and once again, I would like you to remind me of one of those devotions: “Having gratitude to your environment that makes you alive”. This is one of the most important mottos to change your wonderfulness.

Complaints and grumbling always make our lives unhappy. Gratitude is the completely opposite mindset of complaining and grumbling. Gratitude makes our lives wonderful. The reason is that having a feeling of gratitude will make your mindset beautiful and turn your destiny to bright and shiny one. Having gratitude certainly brings good luck to every one of us.”

Inamori told us above.

Most of the complaints come from the desires for the approval and recognition from others.

I want others to recognize my existence,

I want you to respect me

I want you to treasure me

They come from this desire for approval and recognition.

However, how can this desire be fulfilled?

There are two approaches.

  1. Having approval and recognition by others
  2. Approve and recognize us

I think number one is easy to understand.

  1. Having approval and recognition by others

However, ironically, a person who wants to be recognized by others would never get approved or recognized by others. It’s a paradox. If you want to be recognized by others, you may unintentionally pretend to be a good person for your target. Or otherwise, under a subliminal level, your words and actions may put pressure on your counterpart such as “Look at me and follow me!!”. Those who demand gratitude and eventually control others will sooner or later lose their trust in their counterparts. They eventually see the outcomes that are completely opposite to their desire. They are deemed to be the selfish and egoistic ones and people would gradually stay away from those dictators.

So what should we do?

We may start admitting and recognizing others surrounding us.

One of the things that recognizes the other person is this gratitude.

You can express your gratitude to the other person as much as possible, and this will allow you to be grateful.

When you are grateful, you will naturally be joyful and will be able to send gratitude to others even more.

2 Admitting and recognizing yourself

But humans have emotions.

We understand that we must send gratitude to others, but we can’t always do so.

How can I send gratitude to others when I have never been sent that?

Why do I have to express MY gratitude to others when I AM the one who is supposed to be sent the utmost gratitude in the world?

This always remains at the bottom of the human mind.

It is important for you to be aware of your mind and fundamental emotions.

Most of your worries will be resolved if you realize your true intentions, mindset and emotions.

Please try to think about the following.

“Honestly, I want you to admit me, recognize me, value me, but I’m sad that I have never felt such self-esteem.”

“I am sad to find myself to be useless and vacant.”

“I want you to pay attention to me”

“I want to be cherished and tendered”

“I want you to find my value.”

We all have these feelings.

However, we are all ignoring such feelings, and pretend ourselves to be the ones with no such feelings-I have never conveyed such weak and miserable feelings-. We have always been pushing ourselves to be the winners and hide the weaknesses in our mind and emotion.

But those negative feelings should be nailed down into our subliminal minds and drive our actions much harder than we have those emotions under our “conscious layer”.

That’s why we unconsciously try to get people around us to recognize us.

You would be healed just by noticing your own emotions.

The emotions that have been dropped into the subconscious would appear under the conscious level. Therefore, you can consciously change your actions and the words you say.

So, when that happens, each one of us naturally become aware of our incompetence. We can approve ourselves even though we are not the perfect ones. This also means we can allow others as they are, even though they have a lot of deficits as do you.

When we reach that height, we feel gratitude to the people around us who have admitted, valued and trusted each one of us.

This is the moment when our gratitude naturally springs up.

The more gratitude we can spontaneously generate, the more love fills our daily lives and the more joy we can share with others.

I think that everything will change a lot from your feelings and your inner self.

By facing yourself, you would be grateful and give gratitude to others.
