How to develop and create your destiny – Philosophy “Believe in our infinite possibilities”

This time, Inamori* spoke about the above motto in Kyocera philosophy.

“ I have often quoted from Yuan Liaofan’s Yinzhi Lu to talk to you about how to create your destiny. Each person has a destiny. We walk through life guided by that destiny, but we encounter many things along the way. Life is full of ups and downs. For example, if you are healthy now, you may get sick tomorrow. If you think your work is going well, in the next moment, you get involved in unexpected troubles. That is our life.

As long as you keep your mind clean and do good deeds, your destiny will change for the better way. On the other hand, if you are occupied with bad and egoistic thoughts and conduct something bad, your destiny will change for the worse way. So, your thoughts and action drive your destiny. I have often told you that to be a winner in your life, you must keep making efforts every day to think and do good things as much as possible, according to the ‘law of karma’. “

Everyone is born with talent and luck. However, no matter how talented some people are, they sometimes end up living desperate lives. Inamori was blessed with great management talent and luck. I think making the most use of talents and getting supports from others requires the following three prerequisite.

Let me explain them one by one.

1. Study and work diligently (strive yourself much harder than anyone else)

“ Some critics and journalists have said irrelevant things as follows: Kyocera has developed and become so successful only because it happened to ride the wave of the times. It just so happened that Kyocera was working with fine ceramics as the era of fine ceramics arrived. But I believe that I created the era of fine ceramics.

I have received many awards in the fields of ceramics and materials science, mainly in the United States and around the world. I have received the highest awards from academic societies, even though I have not either published any papers or frequently attended international conferences. This is because a man named Kazuo Inamori appeared in the world in the second half of the 20th century, and the field of fine ceramics came into the spotlight. Then, young researchers also began to study it in droves, expanding the possibilities of fine ceramics and attracting a lot of attention as a new material. I think that this is why I am recognized. For example, using ceramic parts in car engines was something that no one had thought of at first. I was the one who suggested developing it, and in fact, I succeeded, and as a result, I began to receive the highest awards from various places. “

→ Inamori also said, “I was left alone in a underperforming company. There was no point in lamenting my situation. So I decided to devote myself to ceramics research.” He said that he spent all his time sleeping and working on experiments in the lab. He later told the students at Seiwa Juku workshop, “I learned and understood ceramics better than anyone else in the world.” He also said, “We must work so hard and sincerely that God was watching over us and want to help us.” I want to continue to work hard and learn wholeheartedly.

In terms of Sanmeigaku (Asian horoscope), Inamori’s life chart was in a position where he was destined to achieve great success. However, as Inamori said, just because your destiny doesn’t necessarily guarantee the success and fail of your life. We must consider the conditions to make the most of your destiny. One of those conditions is to study and master this one area to be the outstanding market leader. I believe that our incredible success comes from meeting all of these criteria: gaining knowledge and experience, standing out from the competition, and keep striving ourselves as mush as possible.

2. Have an open and honest mind (every day filled with reflection)

” An honest mind implies a humble attitude that recognizes we are not perfect and should make efforts to improve our personality. That is the essential key to success.’ “

→ Mr. Inamori said that every single day he face the mirror and scold himself for his evil thoughts. “Do you have such an egoistic thought again?” he used to tell himself, giving himself a scolding.

People tend to take the easy way out, become careless, and be tempted by the devil. I think it is really important to acknowledge one’s own shortcomings, soften and purify one’s heart, and be open to learning. I would like to follow Mr. Inamori and reflect on myself every day.

3. Make efforts to purify and polish your heart and soul

“ Even when I founded Daini Denden(DDI), I boldly took on the challenge with the Kyocera Philosophy as my only compass. I said to the executives of Kyocera at that time, ‘I have no knowledge or skills in telecommunications. If a man like me can take charge of the telecommunications business and succeed, it will prove that the Kyocera Philosophy was absolutely correct. That’s why I want to challenge this new business.’ I wondered if such a big goal could really be accomplished with just the Kyocera Philosophy. Launching DDI was a real challenge that I devoted the second half of my life to proving just how important our mindset is. “

→ This is the second reason why Mr. Inamori was so successful. Inamori’s Asian Sanmei horoscope had many elements that could easily pollute his mindset. All the elements in his horoscope indicate that unless they were kept completely clean and pure, he would not be able to demonstrate his true potential. Therefore, I think he continued to pay close attention and put his whole body and soul into elevating his heart and soul as well as maintaining a pure and beautiful heart.

Inamori used to say, looking back on his career as a entrepreneur, “Every day was spent constantly improving the philosophical value in my work and life.” I think that’s because he mastered this purification of the heart& soul in a way that ordinary people would never think of.
