In Kyocera philosophy, Inamori said the following.
“Looking at the phenomena in the world, we must think about 1) the process of the production of materials, products, and systems, 2) the production and development of lives, and all the evolutional paths in the universe. All of them are not just the results of co-incidence. I am convinced that there should be a universal rule; the development path is a necessary process.
In this world, there is a flow of evolution and development of everything. This should be called the “will of the universe.” This “will of the universe” is full of love, sincerity, and harmony. Furthermore, the destiny of each of us, human being, must be determined by whether each of our mindset is sympathized with this “will of the universe“.
By having a purified and beautiful mind that seeking a harmony with the flow of the universe, our destiny should be turned into brilliant ones. ”
“The will that flows in the universe is to be kind to, love, and improve everything. That will be also considered as the opposite of the egoistic desire, evil and vicious spirits. We must have a harmonious will and mindset that fits with the flow of love that wants to unilaterally improve everything that exists in this universe. Some people may want to make their own money, by getting rid of competitors or expelling other people from the business arena. However, that kind of mindset doesn’t harmonize with the will of the universe, and with those vicious minds, the business management never brings positive results. ”
Some people believe that mental maturity, beliefs, and spiritual interpretation have nothing to do with the business results. However, Inamori, that legendary entrepreneur in Japan, spent more than half pages of its business know-how for this mental parts-philosophy-.
Moreover, he mentioned the “will of universe”, so many people find this kind of topic totally irrelevant to the business administration.
Nevertheless, given his achievements-developing Kyocera, KDDI and JAL-, I feel that this kind of mindset is so important that we should pay attention to the mechanism.
From my point of view, the following approaches may work for us to realize the importance of spiritual phase in the business administration. In other words, I would like to propose the approaches by which we can feel the love spread in our world.

Let me explain one by one
1 Analyze the fundamental force of this system
I usually use this example.
Females of humans and mammals have a hormone called oxytocin. This is also known as the hormone that creates affection. This oxytocin causes people to feel love and affection for their children and to seek skin-ships. Scientifically, mothers have affection because they have oxytocin. However, why do we, human being, have this oxytocin? No one can answer this question. The only answer might be that “the universe has a will: creatures need love.” I think as the universe wishes us to have affections and loves, we have the system of love.
“Love is flowing in the universe” There are many phenomena and systems in the world that cannot be explained unless we assume the universal will, the love and affection.
2 Look at phenomenon with open mind
I have been working as an arbitrator/ conciliator at civil court in my local community. This experience allowed me to analyze arguments or litigations with impartial minds. I realized that there has been no case where only one party is totally responsible/ guilty/ unjustifiable. Both parties have their own sense of justice. Unfortunately, they sometimes have doubts, fears and anxieties against the other party. Those emotions and feelings may have worked to develop hostility towards the others.
In other words, if they had seen the argument provided by their counterpart with non-biased, flat, and impartial mind, they would not have escalated their litigations.
Through the experience of the arbitrator, I found out that it’s quite important for us to see things and phenomena with open mind.
3 Think about the fulfillment
Sometime before, “Ally McBeal”, the FOX TV drama series, gave me hints to think “what fulfills us”. The elite lawyer Ally was obsessed with the prevailing ideas in the US and was seeking her goals: becoming a wealthy lawyer & a mother with a perfect husband. Obviously, her compass to determine her fulfillment was made of so-called moods of the era, the successful role model in the society. Thus, I personally feel that the compass towards the fulfillment of each of us should not be determined by something influenced by the era/ social moods. Rather, the benchmark of our success should be based on something that has been unchanged over the history of our human beings. They are our mental fulfillments, satisfaction, and peace.
Other example that I would like to share with you is a story of “Nazi war crimes suspect, 96, caught after fleeing trial”. She was under 20, when she was involved in the holocaust. I imagine how her entire life was. Has she ever felt fulfilled, satisfied, filled with gratitude towards others? Instead, her life has been filled with fear, anxiety, sense of guilt. Most of her mental condition had been insane in some sense. Could we say her life was fulfilled even though she managed to survive over 90?
This made us think the compass for fulfillment of our life.
Not only as employee but also as managers or leaders, we should think about what the fulfillment of our life is.
Thus, to sum-up, the best approach to realize our fulfillment, we have to be aware of the “love / affection ” in the universe. To be enlightened with those universal love, we should analyze the fundamental system, have open mind, and always consider the compass for fulfillment.
