This time, Inamori* spoke about the above motto in Kyocera philosophy.

What Inamori said is quoted with “”.

 

“ No matter what difficulties you are facing, we must always be cheerful and energetic. Such attitudes have made Kyocera as of today. Life is beautiful and brilliant. It is important to always be aware that your life is beautiful.

Never complain, never let yourself down, never hold grudges, hatred, or jealousy towards others. Those thoughts for sure bring misfortune to your life. Simply hoping for your brilliant future and cheering you up is the first prerequisite for getting your work and life better. ”

 

To be always cheerful, we may have to practice the following items.

 

1. Train and learn how to smile

2. Believe in your brilliant future

3. Analyze and manage your anger

4. Get close to cheerful persons

 

 

Let me explain one by one.

 

1. Train and learn how to smile

“ Even if the other person tries to do something maliciously against you, you can ignore it with a smile, although people surrounding you might find you to be an idiot.

Some people may look down on you and say, `Are you an idiot? Why don’t you get upset with those who looked down on you?’ But you never pay attention to those noises, just let them go. “

→ In Buddhism, one of the practices encourages us to deliver “Cheerful smiles with caring words”. Smile and speak with affection. Under the COVID pandemic,  I practiced smiling by training my facial muscles. This training allowed us to learn how to relax our facial muscles and smile naturally with less tension.

Not only when taking photos, but also in other situations in our lives, I have been speaking as gently as possible with a smile. I think a smile can create a peaceful atmosphere in both workplaces and your home.

 

2. Believe in your brilliant future

“ Even though someone tells you that your future is brilliant, you may be worried about uncertainties in future. Nevertheless, you may still have to cheer yourself up.  A bright life should be open to everyone. If you believe in this and work harder than anyone else, I guarantee that your life becomes wonderful.

It’s up to you.  Believing that your life is wonderful and bright, you envisage your future despite difficulties, obstacles and hardships. Such an attitude definitely can make your life wonderful and brilliant. ”

 “Right now, I’m so sad, my tears have dried up, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to smile again, but I’m sure in future we will be able to talk again with smile that we overcame such a tough time.” These are the lyrics of the song  “Jidai – Time goes around-” by Miyuki Nakajima.

Especially when you lose a loved one, you may lose your energy, as shown in these lyrics. However, as time passes, your pains can be slightly cured. We believe in such an effect of cure and let the time go by.

 

3. Analyze and manage your anger

” I used to easily get upset when someone makes fun of me. However, I started paying less attention to those words by thinking,’ Oh, what a poor guy you are. You get occupied with such malicious feelings. Your life never gets better. ’  Rather than getting upset, I focused on analyzing the mechanism why he used bad words to me.

I used to be very aggressive, but such analysis allowed me to change my attitudes towards others. I will stop arguing and fighting with others. ”

Your counterpart who irritates you is a mirror that reflects yourself. Because  he/she has deficits that you are aware of. As they are touching your weaknesses or deficits, you feel uncomfortable. Additionally, in psychology, anger is the superficial emotion, under which the primary emotions can be found.

People express anger to hide loneliness, sadness, anxiety, and fear. Every time you feel angry at someone, you may have to look at yourself and think about what kind of emotions are underneath your anger. I would like to keep analyzing my emotional layers.

 

4. Get close to cheerful persons

” It’s strange, but cheerful people are always doing well in life. “

→ When I first met my husband, he put on a bright and cheerful aura. Moreover, interestingly it is my husband who has a more beautiful smile than even face lifting instructors and actresses.

I think that if you interact with people who are cheerful, and try to spend time together, you will naturally become more cheerful as well.

 

 

In summary, it is important to always stay cheerful. To achieve this, I would like to first believe in my life and future, keep smiling, look at myself first when I get angry, and get together with cheerful people.
