Inamori, while he had expanded Kyocera the business portfolio, had voluntarily taught the business philosophy to Seiwajuku member. At the last of his activities, he shared the tips, how we can spread the business philosophy.

The points are as follows.

1 Tell significance of philosophy

2 Leader’s endeavor

3 Energising messages

4 With love and compassion

Let me explain one by one

1 Tell significance of philosophy

“I think that understanding and practising philosophy is the act of setting a sail to receive the wind of others’ powers flowing in this world, and it is the act of polishing one’s heart to a beautiful one.

Philosophy is not only a business motto or principle that contributes to the development of the company, but also a truth that makes each person’s life more fulfilling and wonderful. ”

→ You can choose the world to live in. You can live in a world where you do the right thing as a human being. Even just thinking of this, I think I’m already happy enough. I think poor people are the ones who have no choice but to live in a world of robbing and looting. There, people are always suspicious and make themselves victims. I think I should also reflect on my own behaviour and what I have done so far. But at the same time, I can choose my own life with a philosophy. I am glad to find how fulfilled I am.

2 Leader’s endeavor

“At first, you can just copy what Inamori has said during Seiwajuku workshops. So without any doubt, I think you should bring to your company what you learned at Seiwajyuku and start copying them. You should expose yourself to my words anytime and anywhere. After a few years, the contents would no longer be the idea of Inamori, but the idea of yourself.

If the top leader always imposes strict norms on himself and continues to improve his personality, the employees who see it should naturally practice the philosophy. ‘Look, as our leader has such a good idea and strives to put it into practice, we may have to resonate and respect it, so let’s work together with the leader to put into practice the philosophy and contribute to the development of our company.’ I am sure that your staff would naturally start thinking like that.

Nothing is more sympathetic than the president struggling for his employees more than anyone else. Therefore, the top management must be the one who works hardest and learns most diligently in the company. If you keep doing it, your employees will always follow you. ”

→ I have been telling myself: be always diligent, hard worker, and honest. Never seek the evaluation from your staff. Concentrate to complete what’s in front of you. Managements have responsibilities to protect the company and its employees. You can’t always expect to get rewarded with respect from your staff. However, I think it is important to learn deeply and work hardest for our employees.

3 Energising messages

“(About sharing the business philosophy overseas) I spent a whole day talking with all my energy. Kyocera staff, who had never shown even their interests, had gradually started listening to me and finally got convinced with the philosophy and told me that ‘ this is a great tool for the business administration’ I felt that I was sure to actually share the philosophy with them. “

“No one, including myself, can carry out all of the philosophy perfectly. I haven’t done it myself, but the act of trying to make it my own is important. I would like all the Seiwajuku members to learn the philosophy repeatedly with their employees, turn it into their own blood, and put it into practice in the field of management. ”

→ I think we should think of how we can concentrate on our usual trivial works. I thought that if I couldn’t concentrate on the small things in front of me, I wouldn’t be able to make decisions on issues which impact our company’s performance.

4 With love and compassion

“I could even say, ‘Even if the employee leaves my company, as long as he practises the philosophy and has a wonderful life, that’s what I want.’  At the free discussion over meals and drinks in Kyocera, I once said the following.

You don’t have to insist on working for Kyocera. Even if you leave Kyocera, as long as you live by following this philosophy, I am sure that you will have a wonderful life.

“Don’t be afraid to talk frankly and flatly to your employee. Have very straightforward  conversations with them. Don’t get your staff too cautious with your approach. So develop a natural path for both of you and your staff to be open to the other. Think about how to communicate. It is important to think about it. ”

→ I think the ultimate purpose of running a company is to fulfil our employees and to help them to achieve the ultimate fulfilment. I want to be such a person who can always give love and compassion to people surrounding me.
