During the business startup, it’s hard to get capable human resources. However, as the business grows, the top leader should hire his staff to expand his business.

This time, Inamori shared tips or attitudes, by which we can motivate our staff.

Tips are as follows:

Let me explain one by one

 

1 Creating your partner

 

This is the fundamental attitude of a top leader. This means that “Does he want to retain the position as the top of the group?”, or “Does he want to train someone who can substitute him?”

 

We have seen many examples or former cases. Many institutions or companies have been led by those charismatic leaders. We have seen not only at the corporate level but also national level. Like the Chinese communist party, one immensely powerful leader has to control everything. His domain remains until the next leader overtakes everything.

As long as we insist on this attitude, a company would never appropriately grow. The top leader is reluctant to train his substitute, simply because he’s afraid of someone invading his domain and kicking him out. What Inamori has been suggesting is the latter attitude. We must train our staff to create the actual substitute of the top leader. Otherwise, the company could never grow, no one can be fulfilled either.

 

2.Developing your followers 

Inamori ,once before, said that the profit should come only from your followers. In other words, unless you make your own followers, you would never ever get profitable.

I was very much impressed with this phrase.

So, the next question is, who would you like to follow ? In other words, who would you like to trust? From your point of view, who do you think looks like trustworthy?

If you would like your potential customer to follow you, you need to be followed by at least the people surrounding you. Your staff and employees are the first ones to follow you.

As a top leader, we should always think of what are the criteria of people who your staff respect?

 

This question goes into father. What kind of person would you feel trustworthy? In my case, they are decisive, hard workers, warm hearted, and caring others. So first I decided to be the one as I described above so that our staff could respect me.

 

3 Demonstrating the significance of our works

Inamori, in Kyocera’s early starting up stage, was wondering how he could motivate his staff. The works they got involved in were simple, annoying, boring, and the least exciting ones. However, every day after work, he gathered his staff and demonstrated the significance of the works. For instance, “Hey guys, our works are the most advanced technologies in the world.”

 

I have been thinking of the value and the significance of our core job, the real estate.

Some people get excited with the enormous amount that they have been dealing with. However, personally, I feel the significance of our industry is contributing to developing the infrastructure. I strongly feel that one of the economic drivers of Japan has been the fundamental infrastructure. We can travel everywhere in Japan by automobile, train, and other public transportation. Great local communities and regional economic areas have been developed nationwide in Japan. Even though the appraisal assignment, which I have been dealing with, looks very boring and less exciting, it has been very much significant to develop our lifelines. As we appraisers have been working diligently and properly, our living platform has been secured. I would like to demonstrate the significance of real estate business to our staff.
