This time, Inamori* spoke about the above motto in Kyocera philosophy.
What Inamori said is quoted with “”.
” Life is a drama, where all of you have been playing the main role. The important thing is what kind of drama script you write. Sometimes you feel like you are overwhelmed with your destiny. However, by developing your philosophical mind, you can be the main role as you envisage under your scenario. Life is a theater play that you create. The content of the scripts will be completely different between the one who unintentionally and passively live his life and the person who brings his fullest efforts to his life. Therefore, we need to be aware of the significance of our lives and carefully envisage the plots of our life.”
Here, Mr. Inamori talks about what the above motto means in our daily lives.
The points are as follows.
1. Become the owner of your life screenplay
2. Think our reasons to be
3. Feel something great
Let me explain one by one.
1. Become the owner of your life screenplay
“ There is nothing more wasteful than spending your time and life passively and meaninglessly. I believe that heaven, earth, and nature have made us exist precisely because we were needed in this universe. We were not born in this natural world without any mission. We should first believe that this universe needs us and therefore, each of us is quite important.”
→ Mr. Inamori says that each of us is the protagonist in his/her own life. I think it’s totally up to us, whether we make our life wonderful or whether we make our life regrettable. First of all, I think we must be aware that we are the main role of our lives. When we think we are the main character, we can hear our internal voice: hey, how come you believe yourself to be important? Then we get trapped into the negative spiral. We may be in the roop of meaningless lives. Therefore, to avoid such a negative loop, Inamori raised this episode: the universe created us because it needs us.”
2. Think our reasons to be
“ From the perspective of this universe, the existence of a single human being may be truly small. However, we exist in this universe due to necessity. This universe recognizes our existence. We must think that our lives are so valuable and great. There is nothing more wasteful than to spend a life of such great value just doing nothing.”
→ Poetry artist Tomihiro Hoshino once said, ”I want to live today as if it were 100 days, because today will never come again.” Mr. Hoshino lost the control of his limbs when he was young and began creating poetry and paintings with a brush in his mouth. I think he was always thinking about the significance of life.
There is a saying: “Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever.” I would like to reflect those phrases by asking myself every day, “Have I treasured today and brought my fullest efforts on it? ”
3. Feel something great
“ All creatures in the natural world live each moment seriously. We humans must live our lives seriously, without neglecting each day. I believe this is a promise between us and the universe, and also with God. That’s why I say that we need to make efforts and work harder than anyone else. ”
→I believe that every one of us has a role given to us. I think there is something like a theme that I must accomplish in this life. Nowadays, more and more people are interested in so-called “soul-searching “. However, while we are searching for our own souls, precious every time passes by. I realized that what I am doing now is truly my calling, and that it is important to deal with seriously and carefully what I am doing now. If someone asks me if I’m dealing with daily stuff with such an attitude, I’m not that much confident. However, I would like to keep doing my best in the given opportunities.
To sum up, we should realize the significance and importance of our own life, and spend our limited lifetime seriously. To conduct this motto into our lives, we must bring the fullest efforts in our lives. I would like to keep asking myself this question every day.
