You should not live on Ikebana, this is the principle motto that our Souami Ikebana school master needs to follow. Thus, he has two occupations, one is Ikebana teaching and the other is painting. Our master mentioned following as his new year speech.
Last year was the five hundred celebration year since Leonard DaVinci died. As you know he was the great painter, scientist, engineer and innovator. At the same time, our school master, Shinso Souami, who lived in 15th century, same era as DaVinci lived, created ink painting, flower arrangement, tea ceremony, incense appreciation, and some inventions. We have been maintaining the legacy that Souami left however, I feel that is not enough. We should improve the quality of our arts and keep innovation in terms of art sophistication. As the school master, I would be able to devote myself to the evolving art expansion to overseas countries.
Our master mentioned that and I simply would pray for him that his surgery goes well and come back after fully recovering.
