This time, Inamori* spoke about the above motto in Kyocera philosophy.
What Inamori said is quoted with “”.
“ Your way of thinking and your state of mind ultimately determine the final results in both your life and work. What leads people to success is the mindset expressed in the words love, sincerity, and harmony. This mindset is what we humans originally have at the level of our souls.
`Love’ is the attitude that takes the joy of others as our own, and `Sincerity’ is the source which allows us to think about what is good for the world and for others. `Harmony’ is the desire that wishes not only for oneself but also for everyone around us to be fulfilled.
The mindsets consisting of love, sincerity, and harmony fundamentally lead us to success. I think we must always keep our mental status filled with love, sincerity, and harmony. I believe that those are the three fundamental elements that we all subconsciously have. ”
I would like to explore a bit what Inamori wanted us to have with those three elements: Love, Sincerity, and Harmony.
1. Love: Femininity, motherhood, unconditional acceptance
2. Sincerity: Masculinity, fatherhood, dedication, altruism
3. Harmony: Fusion of two extremes: yin and yang, balance
Let me explain one by one
1. Love: Femininity, motherhood, unconditional acceptance
“`The power of love is leading everything to evolve and develop, but at the same time, there is also a force to hold back the evolution and development, discouraging us to accelerate the developments….In Buddhism, it is defined as compassion. “
→When I think of this love, I think of motherhood and womanhood. Women spontaneously think about their children’s growth more than themselves, they wish for their children’s fulfillment, while being concerned about them.
I believe that feminine nature is inherently full of this kind of love that accepts children unconditionally. I believe that this is what Mr. Inamori is saying:
Human beings must have such love and compassion as long as we are the creatures in the universe.
2. Sincerity: Masculinity, fatherhood, dedication, altruism
“ Even if people say that you are mean, your fundamental nature is full of great love, sincerity, and harmony.
You can also be expressed as `Truth, Goodness, and Beauty’. That is why we human beings unintentionally act in search of `Truth, Goodness, and Beauty’.
This is because you are an entity that can be expressed in the words `Truth, Goodness, and Beauty’, so you naturally search for the same status or phenomenon expressed with those three words.
People never look for things that their subliminal minds don’t seek. ”
→Yukio Mishima, the Nobel Prize-winning author, once might say that the ultimate purpose of a man’s life is becoming a hero and sacrificing his life to keep the peace in the world.
Whether it’s for their family or their company, men tend to sacrifice themselves, fight with enemies, protect beloved ones, and find ultimate fulfillment in these things. That’s what masculinity means and perhaps the meaning of `sincerity’.
I think this is what is flowing in the universe, and as we subconsciously have this sincerity, we are generally impressed with altruistic attitudes.
3. Harmony: Fusion of two extremes: yin and yang as well as balance
” The universe is such a providence, so if you make an effort, believe in the power of the True-self and desire to use it, you will progress and develop while harmonizing with the universe and the society. You would be in harmony with your employees, your customers, and everything else.
Therefore, at the end of the day, your company must be developed. This is what we call heaven. Everything will be fine and OK.
Some people don’t believe this and challenge to make a crab walk forward, but they are simply those who never try to walk sideways. All they need is to open their mind and start walking sideways as it is programmed. ”
→I believe that the entire universe is made up of yin and yang, plus and minus, and has dual polarities. Like men and women, each needs the other. This fusion generates wonderful energy, creating harmony at the same time, and I think there is a mechanism where positive energy is amplified and circulated.
I don’t think either only plus is necessary, or only one is particularly important. Yin and yang are two sides of one thing. Each side needs the opposite side.
I believe that these two qualities and functions interact with each other to create a wonderful harmony, which we call “beauty”.
To summarize, “love, sincerity, and harmony” are the duality of the universe and the fusion of two elements. We should not judge good or bad, but should recognize both are necessary for the progress and development of the universe.
By understanding that we can find this system in us as humans, I believe we can live our lives by harmonizing with the universe.
