This time, Inamori* spoke about the above motto in Kyocera philosophy.
What Inamori said is quoted with “”.
“ To achieve lofty goals, you must first have a strong and sustained desire to be like that. Whatever the task, whether it be developing a new product, receiving an order from a customer, or improving production yield or non-adjusted ratio, you must first strongly visualize in your mind the desire to accomplish it at all costs. By repeatedly thinking about your pure and strong desire, whether awake or asleep, it will penetrate your subconscious mind.
When you reach this state, your subconscious will work even while you are sleeping, driving your actions and allowing you to conduct all the tasks that you have never accomplished. Moreover, this subconscious mind will eventually lead you to realize your desire. What I want to emphasize here is having a strong and sustained desire, which in other words means to strongly and persistently keep thinking, ‘I want to drive my life like this’ or ‘I want my company to grow like this’. Only by doing so can you allow your desire to penetrate into your subconscious. “
Inamori talks about the importance of the subconscious mind here.
There are three reasons why the subconscious mind is so important:
1. Subconscious minds can make the reality
2. No excuse for avoiding actions to be taken
3. Drive us with maximum energy
Let me elaborate one by one.
1. Subconscious mind can make the reality
“ As long as you hold such a noble desire, your dream will sooner or later come true. ”
→ For the past 10 years, or perhaps even longer, people have been talking about utilizing the subconscious minds. Well-known business and self-development books recommend the approach of changing reality by rewriting the subconscious mind. I myself rewrote my subconscious and it worked. I had a strong feeling (subconscious) that “I am not the one to be loved.” Therefore, I unconsciously created a reality in which I felt that I was not loved, and I kept repeating the process of making the image in my subconscious into reality.
Those who are always having trouble with money have a similar subconscious mindset. By causing financial troubles, they are trying to find the love of those around them and to relieve their anxiety that they may not be loved. Therefore, such people will continue to create financial and other troubles forever unless love permeates their subconscious. In this way, the subconscious creates actual reality, so it is necessary to carefully treat our subconscious mind.
2. No excuse for avoiding actions to be taken
“ To justify his idleness, he said, ‘The idiot next door has to get up early and work.’ He showed contempt, saying, ‘I’m smart and clever, so I don’t have to get up early to earn some money. However, the person next door is an idiot, so he has to get up and work for a living.’ “
→ Even if you say, “I am going to do this,” or “I know that I must do that “, in your subconscious, you have a vague feeling that you should not do that. Your subconscious is thinking that it would be terrible if this condition were to come true. This leads you to look for an excuse not to do something. You can find a lot of excuses to justify your status: avoid challenges. You may use phrases, “because we don’t have the tool,” or “because this issue cannot be solved.”
The uncle in Inamori’s story is afraid that if he works, he will be revealed as an incapable person. That’s why he is always looking for an excuse not to work. No matter how much you explain it with your conscious mind, it never works. I think Inamori realized that unless we fundamentally change our subconscious, our behavior will never be changed.
3. Drive us with maximum energy
“ Once before, I heard that everything we think, feel, and experience from the time we are born until the time we die is stored in this subconscious. It is also said that the capacity of the subconscious is dozens of times greater than the conscious mind we are currently using. “
→ This demonstrates how powerful our subconscious is when we consider something. In the American Hollywood film industry, they say that between each piece of image in a film, images of fast food such as popcorn and hamburgers are inserted, even though the audiences don’t notice. When watching a movie, the human subconscious and conscious mind are easily connected. Images of fast food shown in a film directly affect the subconscious to stimulate our appetite. That’s why people want to eat fast food during breaks or after watching a film because of this mechanism.
In the United States, commercials were already aired in the 1960s and 1970s, incorporating the function of the subconscious. As an aside, there is a story in the Columbo series about a murder trick that makes good use of this subconscious. Controlling the subconscious mind will drive our actions so that we will be able to change our future.
So, to summarize, if you want to accomplish something, you must rewrite your subconscious. Otherwise, you keep looking for excuses not to take actions, waste your energy, and reality will never change. To do this, it is important to understand how our subconscious works. Personally, I would like to take good care of my subconscious.
