Since 2011, I have been exchanging emails with my former supervisor, who had been located in Germany when I was working for a German bank, at its Tokyo branch office.
At the earthquake happened, I was in our office located in 37th floor in the Roppongi Hills, the skyscraper in Minato ward. I was in bathroom, wasn’t able to stand, I went back to my office along with walls. I was living in a small apartment in 15 min walk from the office tower, so I was a lucky one otherwise, people got stuck with the huge traffic problems.
Anyway, my supervisor was in Cannes to attend the global real estate conference, he watched on the TV large scale of tsunami had drawn the seacoast in Japan, and he got frozen. It was a tough moment for us but I really feel that I was the lucky one and that earth quake actually provided us with a lot of themes to work on. We should never forget the disaster but we have to keep in our mind that we had a lot of lessons learned and should always remember those tips, how to deal with disaster. Now today is a good timing for us to well consider those wisdoms.
